PDP Sports Festival
November 14th to 19th 2009
If there is one place that can be a source of respite in Mumbai’s concrete jungle, it is the Priyadarshini Park. Situated in the posh residential area of Malabar Hill, to the west of Napean Sea Road, this is a park garden and a sports center, all rolled into one. Spread over an area of 20 acres in a reclaimed piece of land on the seafront, this is a favorite haunt for young, old and the fitness enthusiasts
Mr. B. A. Desai, being the president of the Malabar Hill Citizens’ Forum took the initiative to develop the park and a sports complex; this has now become a sports hub, where international level coaching programs are in place. Priyadarshini Park sports a 400 metre Olympic standard synthetic track, tennis courts, a gymnasium, health club, and a football ground. There are coaches for various sports disciplines, and fitness programs designed for entire families. At any given time, there are about 1000 active members.
In 2009, PDP is completing 20 years. In the month of November we are therefore celebrating Priyadarshini Sports Festival. As one of the festival’s main components, we are organizing a football tournament where the top teams of Mumbai will be invited to compete. (Air India, ONGC, Mahindra United, Mumbai FC, Union Bank, Bank of India, PDP Waves, PIFA)
The Sports Festival will be held from the 14th to the 19th of November 2009, and end with a Jazz Concert on the 21st and the 22nd, in which international jazz artists are invited.
Mentioned below, are the activities lined up for each day. If possible, an exhibition on Global Warming & Climate Change will be held through the period of the festival. |
